The AK-47 Machine Gun, or simply AK-47, is a Fortitude-based Machine Gun in 7 Days to Die.
Description[ | ]
The AK-47 is a short- to medium-ranged automatic weapon, affected by the Machine Gunner perk. Similar to other machine guns and rifles, the AK-47 uses 7.62mm Rounds as Ammunition. Previously named the AK-47 Assault Rifle and classified as a rifle, the AK-47 is now considered a machine gun in terms of Perks. It has the highest damage output potential out of all the conventional firearms, that lends the AK 47 well to being the player's backup gun to defend against surprise threats while scavenging or collecting resources.
Combat[ | ]
Due to the AK-47 having a lower head shot multiplier than other 7.62mm rifles, it is less effective in situations where time-to-kill is not as important as conservation of ammunition, such as in base defense. It takes two shots to the head to kill a normal Zombie, three shots to kill a bloated Zombie, or several shots to the body or limbs.
There is a 10% chance the AK will inflict a critical hit on a target (CritGunAK47 buff), which reduces the target's health by 150.

Notes[ | ]
- An AK-47, like all weapons, can destroy blocks and other structures.
- In real life, the AK-47 is chambered in 7.62x39mm ammunition, however, the game strongly implies 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition is being used.
- While the rifle is termed as AK-47, the model actually resembles an AKMS, a modernized version of the AK-47 with folding stock. As this folding stock seems to be absent in the game model, the AK-47 assault rifle is the only rifle in the game that doesn’t have a stock.
