If a character's Feels Like temperature falls below 60°F (15.6°C), the Cold buff will be applied. A yellow snowflake icon will appear in the HUD and the edges of the screen will gradually take on a frosted look. This buff causes increased food consumption when recovering stamina. The effects of this buff can be mitigated or completely counteracted by the Well Insulated perk. If the character's temperature falls to 40°F (4.4°C) then the Freezing buff will apply.

While this buff is active the character will have Fullness decrease 30% faster over time, plus a further drain of 1 Fullness per Stamina point recovered.
This buff, as well as Freezing, cannot directly kill a character. However if Fullness is decreased below 2% the character will be Starving and will begin taking damage over time.
