Description[ | ]

The Crawler Zombie is a type of Zombie. It is considerably slower than the average zombie as it does not walk or run and instead drags itself along the ground. Its legs are missing, likely either from a fall, encounter with the infected/survivors or decay (likely worn away by dragging itself). The remains of its torso show late stages of rot, to the point where its spine and pelvis are visible, indicating this zombie to have be alive for a long time. What's left of its lower torso are the tendins of its intestines.

This may be used to player's advantages as it's speed is independent of the speed settings. On the other hand, it is also more difficult to detect, because it can attack you from below while you're repelling one zombie horde, with the added benefit of being harder to spot in a darker light ambience and ambient foliage.

Combat[ | ]

The crawler zombie, while always slow, is still a threat not to be taken too lightly. Not only are they harder to reach, since they are almost flat on the ground, they also have a chance to injure (sprain or even break) the player's leg upon a successful attack. Therefore, the best way to fight them in close-combat is to crouch. That way the vertical distance is shortened and it is easier to stay outside of the crawler zombie's attack range, while still being able to strike back with a melee weapon of choice.

Notes[ | ]

- Crawlers can climb up one block, just like walking zombies can jump up one block.

- They have considerably less hitpoints than regular zombies, having only 80 instead of 125 or even 150. The feral counterpart has 152, though.
