'''Death''' occurs in ''[[7 Days to Die]]'' when your [[Health]] reaches zero. You will re-spawn after dying, and if you have placed a [[bed]], you will have an optional choice to select to spawn on your bed or near it. Upon death you will lose your items determined by the option set when the map was loaded. *"Everything" will result in you dropping everything. *"Tool-belt only" will result in you dropping items in your tool-belt. *"Backpack only" will result in your dropping all your items in your backpack. *"Delete All" will result in all items from your backpack and tool-belt to be removed from the game completely. *"Nothing" causes you to retain all your items, clothes, armor, and anything else the player may be carrying. No backpack will be spawned, due to the lack of loot to recover from the site of death. A backpack will be placed on the spot where you died. It contains the items mentioned above (unless deleted, or nothing was dropped), and a blue backpack marker will be visible on the map and compass. The backpack will stay around for some time and then disappear. The amount of time before disappearing can be found in the [[XML Files#entityclasses.xml|entityclasses.xml]] configuration file. As of Alpha 19, it defaults to 3600 seconds (one hour). Also after dying, you will receive an effect called [[Near death trauma|Near Death Trauma]] that will give you a sizable XP debt to pay in addition to losing 10% of your regular XP.
