Description[ | ]

The Electric Fence Post shocks players and Zombies who touch the wire between two connected posts. The wires can go through any block. The maximum distance between 2 posts is 14 blocks, not counting the blocks the posts stand on.

The recipe above contains the Resources needed to craft the Electric Fence Post for each level of the Advanced Engineering Perk.
A higher level in the associated perk will decrease the crafting cost, saving resources.

Effects[ | ]

When a player or Zombie comes within range of the wire between two connected posts and touches the wire, they receive the Shocked status effect. This causes 3 damage to health every 0.5 seconds for 4.5 seconds. Zombies will have their speed reduced to 0.1 for 3.2 seconds. Though the Zombies are effectively immobilized during this time, they will still attack players and blocks that are in range. Players will be slowed but not as nearly immobilized as Zombies.

After the Shocked status effect expires, a Zombie is immune to further shocking for 1.5 seconds. Players do not get this immunity and will continue to be shocked until moving away from the wire or until the Electric Fence Post stops working.

When a Zombie is shocked, the Electric Fence Post at the receiving end of the electricity flow takes 1 damage to its Durability. When a player is shocked, the Electric Fence Post instead takes continuous damage to its Durability until the player moves out of range of the live wire. When the receiving Electric Fence Post is reduced below 50 Durability, the wire will no longer cause the Shocked status effect to be applied to players or Zombies, and when a player walks into the wire when in this state, a short-circuiting sound can be heard from the damaged post. The Electric Fence Post is repaired using Electrical Parts.

Repairing[ | ]

The Electric Fence Post is repaired using Electrical Parts.

Notes[ | ]

  • Uneven ground can cause some sections of the wire not to be triggered when walked over, because the wire is too low to the ground or too high over the Zombie's head to count as touching a Zombie, so it is advisable that the ground between the Electric Fence Posts be flattened by placing frames on the ground and then picking them back up.
  • There is a bug which will cause wires connected to the Electric Fence Post to become connected to the bottom of the post rather than the top. This can cause the wire to run underground, rendering it unable to shock Zombies. Until this bug is fixed, you may need to inspect your wires periodically and before a horde night.
