Description[ | ]
An Empty Can is used as a source of Iron. While the Empty Can can be scrapped into Iron to save inventory space, it can also be smelted directly in a Forge. Smelting Empty Can directly instead of scrapping it will yield 50% more Iron. A player can obtain an Empty Can by looting and finding and consuming any Canned Food or by crafted one in the Forge.

History[ | ]
- Prior to A17, Empty Cans could also be used to create Canned Murky Water. This was done by "right-clicking", with a Empty Can selected, whilst standing in or near a water source. Canned Murky Water would then be boiled in Campfire to create Boiled Water. Boiled Water had a stack limit of one since there is no lid to the container and it was meant for basic survival in the wild with primitive means until a cooking pot could be obtained. They also used to be able to be thrown as a distraction for zombies, but this feature was removed because the throwing animation didn't work properly.
