Description[ | ]

The Maple Tree is a Tree found in abundance in the Forest, in addition to lesser quantities found in the Plains biome. When felled it will drop Wood and Maple Seeds, which in turn can planted to grow more Maple Trees.

Occurrence[ | ]

Planting[ | ]

Maple Trees can be grown using Maple Seeds and can be planted on any soil based ground block that is devoid of Tall Grass, Small Stones or any other form of interference preventing placement. Upon planting the seed in the ground a small sapling will appear marking the beginning of the tree's life and is the very first stage of growth. The growth period required for a Maple Tree to fully mature differs slightly for each tree, however, the majority of trees will usually take two to three game days to fully mature.

Remarkably, some seeds when planted will change from a small sapling into a juvenile tree within a matter of seconds. Consequently, this allows the player to fell the tree for lumber almost immediately, although the quantity of Wood dropped from the juvenile tree is reduced in comparison to the yield from a fully matured tree. A freshly planted sapling doesn't require damp soil to prosper, and a water source nearby is unnecessary.

Life[ | ]

A Maple Tree will go through a number of stages during its life, these are outlined here. Some of these require a fertile ground.

Harvesting[ | ]

Trees drop Wood as they are harvested. When the tree has been fully harvested, it falls, dropping a large bonus of Wood , and occasionally a Maple Seed or two. The simplest way to harvest a Maple Tree is for the player to punch it with the character's bare fists. However, it will take many hits in addition to using a vast amount of stamina to bring down a mature tree.

The most efficient way of felling a tree is via the use of a chainsaw which will make lumber of a fully matured tree in seconds, although a Chainsaw requires Gas to function. furthermore a Chainsaw emits sound at a high volume and is easily capable of triggering a Zombie horde.

The safest and most common way is to use a Stone Axe or a Fireaxe. furthermore both of these tools are well suited to use with wood. A fireaxe is the appropriate tool for wood type blocks and items, therefore making it more efficient than a Stone Axe. Smaller, younger trees are less likely to drop seeds. A large mature tree is capable of dropping hundreds of Wood and a few Maple Seeds.
