Description[ | ]

A Iron Sledgehammer is a tool and weapon in 7 Days to Die. It can be found as loot or crafted. Crafting requires Forged Iron . Working Stiffs Crates can sometimes contain a Iron Sledgehammer. It can be repaired using Forged Iron . It can be scrapped, melted in a Forge, and burnt as a source of Combustible fuel.

As a tool, the Sledgehammer is best suited for breaking rock, or stone-based items and boulders. As a melee weapon, it is used at close range.

Uses[ | ]

As a Tool[ | ]

The Iron Sledgehammer has a reach of up to four (4) blocks away, and can be used to destroy Stone, boulders, and Concrete blocks. However, it is only slightly more effective than the Stone Axe. While it is not the appropriate tool for either stone-based or concrete blocks, it is an alternative. A Sledgehammer can also be used, to a lesser extent, on wood-based blocks. The Sledgehammer is effective at destroying metal-based blocks. If you have a stamina boosting effect or skill points invested in offsetting the high stamina cost, it is one of the quickest ways to break into safes and through vault doors.

As a Weapon[ | ]

A Iron Sledgehammer is a short range weapon and can strike multiple Zombies at close quarters. It can kill an average Zombie with one direct hit to the head or two hits or more to the body. It is able to do massive damage with the stealth bonus multiplier. There is a chance that the Iron Sledgehammer will cause the target to be dismembered.

Crafting Recipe[ | ]

It can be crafted after reading the schematic by clicking on the ingredients and selecting recipes or you can search for it in your crafting window search bar.

Repair[ | ]

A Sledgehammer's Durability depends on its quality level, player level, and skill levels related to it. You can repair it with Forged Iron. Be aware though every time you repair it it loses overall quality. How much depends on skill levels and such, so only repair when you have to or it becomes too weak.

Scrapping[ | ]

A Iron Sledgehammer can be scrapped into Scrap Iron by selecting the Sledgehammer and clicking "scrap".

Notes[ | ]

  • Damage is directly related to player stamina and the condition of the weapon. Higher stamina and weapon condition allows for harder swings.
  • There is a considerable delay during each swing. Wielders should compensate for this if using it in melee combat. The Iron Sledgehammer can also be aimed while the swing is being prepared.
