Overview[ | ]

The Marksman Rifle is a ranged weapon in 7 Days to Die. It can be looted from Supply Crates, Shotgun Messiah Crates, Munitions Boxes, and Feral Zombies. It can also be assembled after reading the Sniper Rifle Schematic. The Marksman Rifle uses 7.62mm Bullets as Ammunition and can hold 5 cartridges. It has a Durability maximum of between 1700-7000 depending on the quality of the part it is made from. A Marksman Rifle will reload automatically or it can be done manually by pressing the reload key (default key 'R').

Unlocking[ | ]

Before being able to craft a Marksman Rifle, the recipe must be unlocked. This is done by reading the specified schematic.

Combat[ | ]

The Marksman Rifle is an extremely powerful long range Weapon that will kill almost all Zombies with a single shot to the head. Fitted with a telescopic sight, it can zoom in on distant targets, making it a perfect weapon for taking out dangerous enemies from a safe distance. It is also powerful at close range, although it only contains five cartridges per magazine, meaning it will require frequent reloading. It is also worth nothing that it is approximately 33% quieter than the Hunting Rifle due to it's suppressor, as the Marksman Rifle has a noise range of 35 M, while the Hunting Rifle has a noise range of 50 M. This makes it an even more viable option for long range engagements with enemies, especially in more populated areas.

Gun Parts[]

Each part of the Marksman Rifle can supply a different attribute. It is unknown if the value supplied is based on the quality of the component or the overall quality of the Marksman Rifle. Marksman Rifle does not really have a durability, each of its component parts have a durability and when any of them fail then the whole Marksman Rifle fails.

The values will be adjusted by the players Action Skill Group level and other skills and perks.

Crafting Recipe[ | ]

Just click on any part and click Assemble. From there you will be able to add and remove items from the weapon. You have to have read the schematic first though. If one has a flashlight, they have the option to attach it, though it isn't recommended due to the fact that sniper rifles aren't meant for close quarters, and the flashlight has a much shorter range.

Repair[ | ]

The condition of a Marksman Rifle deteriorates with each use until eventually it will stop working and will need to be repaired. This can be done using a Weapon Repair Kit.

  • One Weapon Repair Kit will restore partial durability.

Other Uses[ | ]

Assemble[ | ]

A Marksman Rifle can be Assembled by clicking on any gun part and clicking Assemble. This will break the weapon down into its component state, and display the parts in the main crafting screen. The player can then remove the parts and place them into their bag or tool belt.

Players who have read the appropriate Recipe Book can also use this method to upgrade gun parts in the weapon to a higher quality. To do so, remove the desired gun part from the Assemble screen, and replace it with a similar gun part of higher quality. Note that this action must be done in a specific order. You cannot first drag the NEW gun part onto the Assemble screen and "swap" it with the OLD one. You must first drag the OLD gun part off of the Assemble Screen and replace or swap it with the NEW one.

Forging[ | ]

The player can place a Marksman Rifle into a Forge and it will be melted down into iron. Each Marksman Rifle will produce some Scrap Iron.

Scrapping[ | ]

A Marksman Rifle can be scrapped by clicking on the Marksman Rifle and selecting "Scrap".

Notes[ | ]

  • A Marksman Rifle, like all weapons, can destroy blocks and structures, and is most effective from a distance where enemies won't be easily attracted.
  • With the recent updates, the model has been changed to a much more detailed model, now based on the Remington R11 RSASS (Remington Semi Automatic Sniper System), a much more realistic weapon considering the game setting. Functionally it has remained more or less identical, however, despite the R11 RSASS having 15 more bullets per magazine and a faster rate of fire than the in-game model.
