Description[ | ]
The Nailgun is a short range semi automatic side arm which can be looted or accessed through the creative menu in 7 Days to Die. It is an uncommon weapon. It is currently possible to craft since A15. This weapon requires Nails and will hold 25 rounds; its durability will last for 500 shots. It will reload automatically if the player is carrying the correct Ammunition or it can be done manually at any time using the reload key (default key R). Nails can be found or can be produced in a Forge.
Nailgun Parts[]
Each part of the Nailgun can supply a different attribute. It is unknown if the value supplied is based on the quality of the component or the overall quality of the Nailgun. Nailgun does not really have a durability, each of its component parts have a durability and when any of them fail then the whole Nailgun fails.
The values will be adjusted by the players Action Skill Group level and other skills and perks.
- ↑ Accuracy has changed in Alpha 16, it is unsure how this now affects the accuracy of the weapon
Uses[ | ]
The Nailgun is meant for use as a tool rather than a weapon. Its main function is to upgrade buildings very quickly, which in turn makes the Nailgun by far the fastest item to level up construction tools within A13. When used as a tool to upgrade buildings, the Nailgun doesn't consume Nails nor deplete its durability, so the player can use as it is. However, Nails are required to use it as a weapon, and its condition will deteriorate. Though a Nail has block damage in the XML, the Nailgun only hurts entities, it is harmless on blocks. Despite being usable against entities, its low entity damage means it should only be used as a last resort, since its damage is far weaker than many ranged weapons.
Crafting[ | ]
As of A15 the nailgun is craftable after reading the Nailgun Schematic.
It is assembled like a gun, to assemble, select one of the parts and choose Assemble, then drop the other parts into the corresponding slots

Repair[ | ]
The condition of a Nailgun deteriorates with each use of the primary action (attack) until eventually it will stop working and will need to be repaired. This can be done using a Weapon Repair Kit.
- In A12 with a durability of 500, thirteen Weapon Repair Kits will be required to restore a fully depleted Nailgun.
- In A13 With a durability of 500, three Weapon Repair Kits will be needed to restore a fully depleted Nailgun
Notes[ | ]
- As mentioned this weapon/tool has no reload animation.
- You can't use the secondary action (default: right-click) to aim with the Nailgun like with any other ranged weapon, since this button is used for the upgrade function.
