Overview[ | ]

A Pistol is a short to medium range semi automatic side arm which can be found throughout the world in 7 Days to Die. It is a very common weapon and it is very easy to find one, it can also be crafted using the correct Gun Parts. This weapon requires the 9mm Bullet and will hold 15 cartridges. It will reload automatically if the player is carrying the correct Ammunition, or it can be done manually at any time using the reload key (default key R).

Combat[ | ]

During combat the Pistol is very effective if the player is accurate enough to hit zombies in the head. It takes one shot to the head to kill a normal Zombie and two shots to kill a bloated Zombie. It will take several shots to the body or limbs to kill a zombie so it is advised to avoid shooting at the body. A Pistol is most effective at short to mid range as it is easier to land a head shot up close.

Crafting[ | ]

Unlocking[ | ]

To be able to craft a Pistol the player must first unlock its crafting recipe by reading the following Recipe Book.

Dismantling[ | ]

A Pistol can be dismantled by placing it into the output slot of the crafting grid. This will break the weapon down into its component state, and display the parts in the main crafting grid. The player can then remove the parts and place them into their bag or tool belt.

Players who have read the appropriate Recipe Book can also use this method to upgrade gun parts in the weapon to a higher quality. To do so requires the player to remove the desired gun part from the crafting grid, and replace it with a similar gun part of higher quality. Note that this action must be done in a specific order.

  • The player must first drag the OLD gun part off of the crafting grid before replacing it with the NEW one.
  • The player cannot drag the NEW gun part onto the crafting grid and SWAP it with the OLD one.

Any player can place the weapon in the output slot, observe the weapon's component gun parts, and remove it from the output slot again without dismantling it. This action will also automatically unload the bullets into their bag or tool belt, assuming they have space. Otherwise, they will fall to the ground (disappearing in 60 seconds).

Without Recipe[ | ]

A special note must be made for players that dismantle a pistol (or any other firearm) without having read the appropriate Recipe Book. Although any player can dismantle a weapon, only players who have read the appropriate Recipe Book can reassemble or upgrade it. Players without this knowledge should never remove any gun parts from the crafting grid, unless they intend to permanently dismantle the weapon. If you replace a part in the crafting grid and attempt to reassemble by clicking the Craft button, without the Recipe Book knowledge to craft it, all the items will be turned into Scrap Iron.

Repair[ | ]

The condition of a Pistol deteriorates with each use until eventually it will stop working and will need to be repaired. This can be done using a Weapon Repair Kit.

  • One Weapon Repair Kit will restore 40 durability.

The example shown below is merely to illustrate the items needed as currently they can be placed into the crafting grid in any position.

Other Uses[ | ]

Forging[ | ]

The player can place a Pistol into a Forge and it will be melted down into iron. Each Pistol will produce 2.1 lbs of iron.

Scrapping[ | ]

A Pistol can be scrapped by placing it into the center of the crafting grid to craft Scrap Iron.
