− | An PAGENAME can be Assembled by clicking on any gun part and clicking Assemble. This will break the weapon down into its component state, and display the parts in the main crafting screen. The player can then remove the parts and place them into their bag or tool belt. |
||
− | |||
− | Players who have read the appropriate Recipe Book can also use this method to upgrade gun parts in the weapon to a higher quality. To do so, remove the desired gun part from the Assemble screen, and replace it with a similar gun part of higher quality. Note that this action must be done in a specific order. You cannot first drag the NEW gun part onto the Assemble screen and "swap" it with the OLD one. You must first drag the OLD gun part off of the Assemble Screen and replace or swap it with the NEW one. |

Decription[ | ]
An SMG-5 (submachine gun) is a type of ranged weapon in 7 Days to Die. It can be looted from Supply Crates, Shotgun Messiah Crates, Munitions Boxes, and Feral Wights. It can also be crafted after reading the SMG Schematic. The SMG uses 9mm bullets as Ammunition and can hold 30 cartridges. An SMG will reload automatically or it can be done manually by pressing the reload key (default key 'R').
Unlocking[ | ]
Before being able to craft a SMG-5, the recipe must be unlocked. This is done by reading the required recipe book.
Combat[ | ]
During combat, an SMG-5 is a very effective short to medium range Weapon, eliminating most enemies within seconds due to its accuracy and high rate of fire. This Weapon is most effective against large packs of Zombies, but can take down individual targets with 1-2 head shots. Currently it is one of the most effective Weapons against large groups of Zombies due to its accuracy, large magazine, high rate of fire, and quick reloading speed. It also boasts minimal recoil, making it particularly accurate when aiming down the sight. The SMG is internally silenced, and produces noise only up to 7 meters.
There is a 10% chance the SMG will inflict a critical hit on a target (CritGunMP5 buff), which reduces the target's health by 100.

The recipe above contains the Resources needed to craft the SMG-5 for each level of the Advanced Engineering (Perk) Perk.
A higher level in the associated perk will decrease the crafting cost, saving resources.
Repair[ | ]
The condition of an SMG-5 deteriorates with each use until eventually it will stop working and will need to be repaired. This can be done using a Repair Kit.
- One Repair Kit will restore some durability.
Other Uses[ | ]
Auto Turret[ | ]
The SMG and its constituent parts may be used to craft the new Auto Turret, as of A16.
Forging[ | ]
The player can place an SMG-5 into the forge and will be melted down into iron. Each SMG-5 will produce 13 iron.
Scrapping[ | ]
An SMG-5 can be scrapped by selecting it and clicking on "scrap".
Notes[ | ]
- An SMG-5, like all weapons, can destroy blocks and structures.
- The model used in the game closely resembles the Heckler & Koch MP5SD3 as used by the US Navy Seals and the British SAS.
- It is one of the quietest firearms in 7 Days To Die, with a noise range of 7 M, making it very effective for attracting less attention when scavenging buildings or dispatching hordes.
- As of Alpha 16, The SMG no longer uses 10mm, but instead uses the more common 9mm.
