"You are sweltering. Find clothing or take shelter. When you're sweltering, you will get thirsty faster."

Description[]

If a character's "feels like" temperature reaches 100°F (37.7°C) or higher the Sweltering buff will be applied. A red sun icon will appear in the HUD and the edges of the screen will gradually take on an orange hazy look. This buff greatly increases the character's consumption of water when recovering Stamina, causing them to get thirsty much more quickly. The effects of this buff can be mitigated or completely counteracted by the Well Insulated perk.

Effects[]

While this debuff is active Hydration will be drained by 6 points for every point of stamina recovered. This is an extremely large drain on Hydration if stamina is expended.

This debuff, as well as Hot, cannot directly kill a character. However if Hydration is decreased below 2% then the character will be Severely Dehydrated and will begin taking damage over time.
