Using a [[Fireaxe]] to chop down trees will decrease the time it takes to chop down a tree, but your efficiency will decrease if your stamina is low and vise versa. Falling trees, like any other falling block, will damage zombies below them. Trees will not regenerate on their own, but you can replant trees from saplings, from which trees will go through 2 or more stages of growth, gaining hp as the amount of wood they offer through harvesting increases, along with their physical appearance.

ForestTrees

A selection of Birch and Maple trees as seen in the Forest biome

Description[ | ]

A Tree is a generated object found in the environment that drops Wood whilst being cut and toppled.

Harvesting Trees[ | ]

Harvesting a tree with an Appropriate Tool such as an Iron Fireaxe or a Steel Fireaxe will decrease the time it takes to chop down a tree and will also maximize the amount of Wood obtained in the process. The amount of Wood and Seeds yielded depends on the maturity stage of the tree. Newly-planted trees, or saplings, do not provide any resources.

Tree Growth Stage Hit Points Wood Harvested Seeds Harvested
Sapling n/a 0 0
Stage 1 300 30 1
Stage 2 600 70 2
Stage 3 900 110 2
Stage 4 1200 150 2

Notes[ | ]

  • Trees that are damaged do not regenerate their Hit Points. If they grow to a new growth stage, they carry their damage forward.
  • Only trees planted by the player will grow. Trees generated on map creation will not grow.

Types[ | ]

There are a number of different types of trees, but only 3 of them yield seeds when chopped down and thus are able to be replanted:

Other nonreplantable trees:
