Description[ | ]

Water (Block) is a basic resource which can be picked up with an empty Bucket or can be drank by the players empty hand when looking at a water source. While there is no limit to drinking from a water resource by hand, this comes with a chance of Dysentery as a negative side effect. However if the player has certain mods equipped or has taken certain meds, they can negate their thirst for days on end if they drink long enough, with an extra 15% boost to Stamina. Recent changes in Alpha 21 have greatly improved many of the issues when encountering bodies of water. It now flows into empty spaces to fill in holes, bunkers and caves so that there is a flooding possibility.

Drinkable Water[ | ]

Drinking from unsafe water sources deals 5 damage and can result in Dysentery. Safe hydration methods include items like Pure Mineral Water and Water. Building several or more Dew Collectors will provide a consistent water supply. Another overlooked method is installing a Water Purifier Mod onto a helmet which will negate any side effects from unsafe water. Lastly an added benefit to taking Vitamins aside from immunity to Infections cause by Zombies is the Vitamin's ability to allow the player to drink from any water source without risk of getting Dysentery, however the player will still take damage.

Sources[ | ]

Drinking unclean water from the landscape of Navezgane or Murky Water deals 5 damage and can cause Dysentery. There are several places you can gather water from. These include:

  • Direct natural - rivers & lakes, for example.
  • Indirect natural - certain foods like Blueberries are hydrating in themselves when eaten.
  • Toilets will contain murky water (Requires boiling to clean)
  • Water towers contain large amounts of water once they are broken into.

Water dynamics[ | ]

  • When emptying a water bucket on the ground, that block becomes the water source block, from this block water will flow up to 7 blocks farther (Thus it has a length of 8 blocks in total: 1 source block + 7 current blocks)
When water runs down a cliff it will not stop after 7 blocks deep, but will keep flowing until reaching the bottom.
  • It is possible to refill an infinite amount of buckets from a water pool with at least 2 source blocks.
  • You can remove water by placing another block of any other material inside it, such as dirt, sand, stone etc.
  • Note that Chests will be destroyed by water, if it spreads over them.
  • Ladders, Torch, Candle will be destroyed by water, if it spreads over them.
  • If water is deep enough it can prevent fall damage.

Notes[ | ]

  • Players can ride with a minibike into a body of water with some slowdown but driving will still function.

History[ | ]

  • As of Alpha 9, water is no longer required for farming.
